Desiree has produced various documentaries and projects for OP Media Group and Mountain View Productions include Abandoned Dreams, Wild Harvest, Prehistoric Survivor, the Great BC Road Trip and the BC Outdoors Show.

KK Law
KK has been filming and shooting for over 25 years. He is the lens for hundreds of photoshoots and was the director of photography for the documentary Abandoned Dreams and the Great BC Road Trip.

Jocelyn Demetre

To overcome the post-traumatic shock and learn to live with the traumatic experiences from his time in Afghanistan, Jocelyn found refuge and healing in nature.
The former lieutenant created and started Hero Lodge as a fishing and nature retreat to help veterans struggling with PTSD as a place for healing and discussion. This is the story of his journey.

Mark Fuchko

Corporal Mark Fuchko joined the military in 2002. He was deployed to Afganistan twice, during his second tour in 2008m His vehicle struck an improvised explosive device and he lost both legs. Thanks to heroic efforts that saved his life, Mark survived the injury and continues to advocate and push limits in sport and outdoor activities. Mark is a regular participant at Hero Lodge.

Julie Vallèe

A retired nurse with decades of experience in medical care and youth protection shifted to work in an indigenous community in remote northern region of Quebec. Her social work has had Julie on the frontlines and 24/7 on call intervention with specialization in complex trauma. A practicing survivalist, war medicine always fascinated and in 2022 she joined the Herolodge team to work as a cook and a strong force and support on site.

René Turcotte- Master Warrant Officer & Hero Lodge Guide

Rene served as a Traffic Tech (logistic specialist) for almost 32 years. He has over 5000 thousand hours on aircraft carrying troupe and cargo everywhere in the world to their place of duty. Rene first went to Hero Lodge in 2018 after his wife passed away, it was a trip they had always wanted to do so he fished Great Slave Lake for both of them. This is where Rene met Jocelyn and his journey as a partner began. After seeing what was happening with the veterans there, Rene knew he wanted to get involved with this organization and became one of the owners with Jocelyn. Now he focuses on Hero Lodge to make it better for veterans(e) and clientele.

Gerry Blais– Retired Chief Warrant Officer

Gerry was part of the Canadian Armed forces (CAF) as an Army Electronic technician. During his 36-year career, he was stationed in various Canadian communities and deployed in Croatia (Former Yugoslavia) in 1994, Bosnia (Former Yugoslavia) in 2001 and in Afghanistan in 2007 and 2010. For Gerry, Herolodge is an extension of that service to our country but now for those who served or are still serving. As a guide, it’s a rewarding opportunity to share experience with veterans who can benefit from shared lessons over the years.
